Thread Lifts

PDO Thread Lift

Dissolvable threads placed beneath the skin to provide a temporary lifting effect.

What is it?

PDO threads are dissolvable threads made from polydioxanone, placed beneath the skin to provide a temporary lifting effect. They also stimulate collagen as they dissolve. This is an invasive procedure and is not suitable for everyone.

What it is designed to address

  • A temporary lifting effect in the mid-face, jawline or neck

What happens at your appointment

Your appointment begins with a face-to-face consultation with your prescriber. She will take a full medical history, discuss what you are hoping to achieve, examine the area, and explain what is and is not realistic. If treatment is clinically appropriate and you wish to go ahead, you will give written consent and the treatment is carried out in the same visit.

Results

The lifting effect is temporary and the threads dissolve over time. Bruising and swelling are common initially. Your clinician will explain the risks, the recovery and what is realistically achievable before you consent.

Aftercare

You will be given a written aftercare plan before you leave, specific to the treatment you have had. As a general principle, avoid heat, strenuous exercise, alcohol and make-up on the treated area for the period your clinician specifies, protect the area from the sun, and contact the clinic if anything concerns you.

Frequently asked questions

No. A thread lift produces a subtler, temporary effect and is a different procedure with different limitations. Your clinician will be straightforward with you about whether it can achieve what you are hoping for.
