Fat-Dissolving Injections

A prescription injectable used to target small, localised pockets of fat.

What is it?

This is an injectable prescription treatment used to break down small, localised deposits of fat — most commonly beneath the chin. It is not a weight-loss treatment and is only appropriate for specific, limited areas.

What it is designed to address

  • Small, localised pockets of fat such as beneath the chin

What happens at your appointment

Your appointment begins with a face-to-face consultation with your prescriber. She will take a full medical history, discuss what you are hoping to achieve, examine the area, and explain what is and is not realistic. If treatment is clinically appropriate and you wish to go ahead, you will give written consent and the treatment is carried out in the same visit.

Results

Several sessions are usually required, spaced weeks apart. Swelling after treatment is expected and can be significant for a period. Your clinician will explain in detail what to expect before you decide.

Aftercare

You will be given a written aftercare plan before you leave, specific to the treatment you have had. As a general principle, avoid heat, strenuous exercise, alcohol and make-up on the treated area for the period your clinician specifies, protect the area from the sun, and contact the clinic if anything concerns you.

Frequently asked questions

No. It is intended only for small, defined areas of localised fat and is not a treatment for weight loss. Your clinician will tell you honestly if it is not the right option for what you are hoping to achieve.
